Doing More with Less, Line and Staff Relationships

As a result of this workshop, the participants are able to:

·        Assess areas of authority and points of authority friction.

·        Identify causes of conflict and why it occurs.

·        Assess their primary conflict handling intention.

·        Learn the five conflict resolution techniques.

·        Identify methods to achieve principled negotiation.

This session focuses on relationships between line and staff, the role of authority in the organization, and causes of friction between the two. Conflict, and why it occurs, is identified and discussed. Participants assess their own primary conflict handling intention, as well as gain tools to assess those with whom they interact. The five conflict resolution techniques are explored, as well as methods to achieve principled negotiation. Through case analysis and role play, the participants are able to identify points of conflict as well as practice skills to disarm potential friction points in the supervisor and staff relationship.
