Doing More with Less, Effective Supervision

As a result of this workshop, the participants are able to:

·        Understand the roles of first-line supervisors and how they differ from other supervisory levels.

·        Identify how much time is needed at each of the four functions of supervision in order to achieve effectiveness.

·        Relate supervision effectiveness to goals and performance outcomes.

·        Understand the factors that lead employees to resist change and how to effectively overcome obstacles to implementing change.

 This session focuses on effective supervision and contrasts the differences between effective supervision and efficient supervision. Participants learn how the roles of first-line supervisors differ from other levels and how much time is needed for each of the four functions of supervision in order to achieve effectiveness. Through role-playing and analysis, the participants learn how to relate effectiveness to goals and outcomes. Factors that lead employees to resist change are explored, as well as techniques to address the behaviors that are obstacles to implementing change in the workplace.
